Qualifications

• Must meet Tier 1 Paraprofessional Requirements.
• Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Certificate or willingness to obtain Tier 2 within 120 days of employment.
• OSBI background check required every five years; employee responsible for cost.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 120 days of employment.
• Annual professional development: Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens – six hours each school year after initial certification.
• High school diploma or GED is required; college coursework preferred to help meet Tier 1 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and activities for individuals or groups as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in instructional settings, recess, assemblies, drills, lunch periods, and other activities.
• Assist in supervising students in the teacher's absence.
• Prepare or adapt instructional materials and teaching aids as directed.
• Serve as main contact for substitute teachers and assist with classroom communication.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle student information responsibly.
