Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for Special Education to support classroom teachers and monitor student progress. The role involves data collection, assisting instruction, and maintaining confidentiality in a dynamic school environment.

Starting date is immediate. Work Aug through May while students are in session, with a 10-month schedule and 7-hour days. Salary commensurate with the school district’s negotiated agreement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 credits or demonstrated proficiency in assisting instruction.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Observe and record behavior and assist with behavior modification techniques.
• Develop and maintain a professional rapport with the classroom teacher and staff.
• Assist students at arrival and dismissal of school.
• Participate in professional development and in-service trainings.
• Supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
