Job summary

MCLEAN COUNTY UNIT DISTRICT #5 is seeking a Paraprofessional - Special Education for JHS, in a Building Personnel role. The position involves supporting students with learning disabilities, autism, or mild behaviors within a general education setting, under supervision of the principal and teachers.

The role requires an educator license, strong communication, and the ability to manage materials, assist with self-care, and maintain a respectful, confidential classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication with teachers and staff.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and pupils.
• Must hold ROE #17 educator license at time of hire.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 10 lbs.
• Detail oriented and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Discusses duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Prepares lesson materials, bulletin boards, exhibits and demonstrations.
• Presents subject matter under the guidance of teachers.
• Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and on field trips.
• Distributes materials and collects assignments for grading.
• Maintains a professional, confidential classroom environment.
• Assists with self-care tasks and use of adaptive equipment.
