Job summary

Caledonia Community Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Level 1 (Special Education-ASD) at Duncan Lake Middle School. The role supports a student with moderate to severe disabilities, aiding in instruction, self-help, and behavioral programs under a certified teacher’s supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEPs, monitoring progress, and helping the student engage in activities. Mandatory high school diploma; experience with disabilities preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework desired.
• Experience with students or individuals with disabilities preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and supporting self-help, behavioral management, and instructional programs.
• Provide support inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in activities.
• Support students in developing appropriate social skills and managing behavior.
• Assist with mobility and positioning as needed; transfer to/from wheelchairs and assist with personal care as required.
