Job summary

North Oak Academy in Durham, NC, is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with IEPs and 504 plans. This role is scheduled for 35 hours per week and is part of the National Heritage Academies network.

You will assist with instructional and behavioral support 1:1 or in small groups, help implement specialized curriculum, participate in IEP meetings and documentation, and collaborate with the special education team to help students achieve academic and social goals.

Qualifications

• Meets state requirements to be a Title 1 paraprofessional.
• Ability to deescalate situations and prevent escalation.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modification, preferred.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance per IEP/504 plans, 1:1 or small groups.
• Commit to educating the whole student academically, morally, and socially.
• Implement result-driven curriculum designed to meet each student’s needs.
• Attend professional development, trainings, and IEP meetings as required.
• Assist with required compliance documentation.
