Conway Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Ellen Smith Elementary to assist students with special needs under the supervision of teachers and administrators.

The role centers on providing physical help and emotional support, implementing teacher plans, and maintaining confidentiality while collaborating with a district team. The position follows the 185-day calendar and the N-Paraprofessional salary schedule.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester credit hours)
• Possesses an associate's degree (or higher)
• Obtained a passing score of 457 on the ETS Parapro Assessment

• Assists students with physical tasks directed by the supervisor.
• Supports the teacher with materials, strategies, and reinforcements for target students.

• Communicates with teachers about students' needs and progress.

Special Education Paraprofessional

Location: Ellen Smith Elementary

Qualifications:

• Certified as Highly Qualified by meeting one of the following criteria:
  • Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester credit hours)
  • Possesses an associate's (or higher) degree
  • Obtained a passing score of 457 on the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro Assessment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in grade-level, school, and District teams
• Ability to lift 25 pounds

Reports to: Building administration and special education administrators

Supervises: Not applicable

Terms of Employment: The contract length will be 185 days. The salary schedule will be N - Paraprofessional.

Evaluation: Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the building administrator.

Job Goal: The Special Education Paraprofessional will endeavor to work closely with one or a few special needs students on a regular basis in order to provide them with the physical help and emotional support they need to gain the full benefits from their educational placement under the direction of the supervising teacher(s).

Performance Responsibilities:

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Assists student(s) to whom assigned in any physical tasks directed by supervisor.
• Supports the teacher on methods, materials, and strategies for reinforcements on target children and implements plans developed by the teacher.
• Aids teacher, when requested, in communication between home and school.
• Participates in ongoing staff development.
• Helps plan scheduling for meeting the needs of students; helps collect and/or prepare materials to support student learning.
• Communicates regularly with teachers as to students' needs and progress.
• Treats all information about the school, teachers, children, and their families as strictly confidential.
• Other duties, as assigned.
