Job summary

Conway Public School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support individual students and classroom teams. The role involves providing physical and emotional support under the supervision of teachers, and assisting with instructional tasks.

The paraprofessional will work primarily with one or a few students, participate in staff development, maintain confidentiality, and help implement plans designed by teachers.

Qualifications

• Must be Highly Qualified by meeting one of the listed criteria.
• Completed two years of study (60 credits) or higher degree.
• Associate degree or higher.
• Passing Parapro ETS score of 457.

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Assists student(s) in any physical tasks directed by supervisor.
• Supports the teacher on methods, materials, and strategies for reinforcements on target children and implements plans developed by the teacher.
• Aids teacher in communication between home and school.
• Participates in ongoing staff development.
• Helps plan scheduling for meeting the needs of students; helps collect and/or prepare materials to support student learning.
• Communicates regularly with teachers as to students' needs and progress.
• Treats all information about the school, teachers, children, and their families as strictly confidential.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Terms Of Employment

The contract length will be 185 days. The salary schedule will be N - Paraprofessional.

Evaluation

Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the building administrator.

Job Goal

The Special Education Paraprofessional will endeavor to work closely with one or a few special needs students on a regular basis in order to provide them with the physical help and emotional support they need to gain the full benefits from their educational placement under the direction of the supervising teacher(s).
