Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Assist with crisis interventions and monitor the School Culture Office as needed.
  • Maintain records of student progress per IEP and related plans.
  • Contact parents to discuss discipline or behavior issues.
  • Supervise lunch/recess and monitor common areas to maintain order.

Overview

The Special Education Paraprofessional provides academic and behavioral support to students who require additional support in order to successfully meet the academic and social goals on their individualized education plans (IEPs).

What does a Special Education paraprofessional do?
  • Implement with fidelity the curriculum that has been prepared by general education and special education teachers and plan some individual and small group lessons as directed by the Director of Student Support.
  • Implement behavior modifications and academic accommodations for the student(s)
  • Collaborate effectively with general education and special education teachers, the culture team, school leadership, and families.
  • Support teachers, school leadership, and the special education team in dealing with behavioral crisis interventions; monitor the School Culture Office as needed
  • Keep records of student progress in accordance with IEP, Behavior Intervention Plan, or Academic Support goals.
  • Contact parents to discuss discipline or behavior issues
  • Supervise classes at lunch and/or recess and monitor common areas of the school (bathrooms, hallways, etc.) to ensure that school spaces are calm, quiet, and orderly

Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including generous paid family leave. The salary range for this position is $42,000‑$50,000.
