Job summary

Point Quest Group is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide instructional assistance to K-12 students in Minneapolis, MN. You will support teachers, assist with lesson assignments, monitor student behavior, and help implement treatment plans to improve communication and access to education.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 2 years post secondary with at least 60 completed credits
• Paraprofessional Credential through Minnesota Department of Education (ParaPro or ParaEducator Assessments) or PELSB-based credentialing

Responsibilities

• Work with small groups of students in an instructional capacity.
• Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Help maintain a safe, positive learning environment in classroom, library, or playground settings.
• Monitor students during activities to ensure safety and positive conduct.
• Support students with various classroom activities (art, literacy, fine motor skills) as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality in all communications.
• Provide modifications to instruction for special needs learners as directed.
• Assist in maintaining appropriate student conduct and discipline in the teacher's absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by teachers, site, or district administrators.

About the Role:

Provide instructional assistance to students in K-12 school settings. You’ll conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver direct therapy to help students improve communication skills and access their education. This role collaborates closely with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to maximize student outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with small groups of students in an instructional capacity.
• Assist and provide support for students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist in maintaining appropriate classroom environment to ensure a safe and positive learning experience.
• Monitor individual students in the classroom, library, or during playground activities to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
• Monitor and assists students during various classroom activities (examples; art, literacy, bath rooming, fine motor skills)
• Maintain confidentiality in all correspondence and communications
• Support special needs learners and modifies instruction as directed
• Assist in maintaining appropriate student conduct
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher
• Perform other related duties as assigned/required by teacher(s), site, or district administrator(s).

What We’re Looking For:

• Associates Degree or equivalent, or 2 years post secondary and at least 60 completed credits OR
• Paraprofessional Credential through Minnesota Department of Education (such as passing score on ParaPro or ParaEducator Assessments or credentialed on the PELSB rubric)
• Background check and drug screening required
• Previous experience working in the school setting preferred
