Job summary

LOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Central Elementary Attendant to assist with students and support special education services in a 5-day, 6.5-hour schedule. The position reports to the Director of Special Services and building principal.

The Attendant must be at least 18, meet ESEA qualified requirements, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Training and collaborations with teachers and therapists are required to support student progress and daily activities.

Qualifications

• Attendants must be at least 18 years old and ESEA Highly Qualified by one of the approved pathways.
• High school diploma or GED acceptable; an associate degree is preferred.
• Evidence of at least two years of higher education or an associate degree satisfies the requirement.
• Must have taken and passed the Praxis Paraprofessional exam as approved by the Ohio DOE.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under supervision.
• Support implementation of Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with speech, occupational and physical therapists as needed.
• Maintain student records and assist with behavior support and toileting needs.
• Perform general duties when the student is absent and participate in required trainings.
