Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who have IEPs, providing support and assistance in the classroom, in small groups, or through progress monitoring. Your role will be crucial in helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Perks include free on-site daycare (check for space available), 181 work days a year, 1 week off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks off for winter break, 1 week off for spring break, strong team collaboration, early dismissal Fridays for students so teachers can participate in professional development, side by side coaching to strengthen classroom management and instructional skills, and teaching methodologies based on evidenced based practices.

Duties:

• Assist students with mild to moderate special needs in their daily activities, including academic tasks, and social interactions in an resource setting, as well as within classrooms
• Collaborate with teachers/related services to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.
• Support students in developing appropriate behavior and social skills.
• Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Help students with organization and time management skills.
• Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and achievements.
• Assist in the implementation of accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs.
• Collaborate with your lead teacher for materials and supplies needed for upcoming lessons
• Able to provide solid instruction under the direction of the special education teacher for intervention groups and individuals
• Able to receive coaching and demonstrate competency in managing student behaviors; using CHAMPs/DSC to support positive classroom management

Experience:

• Previous experience working with special education programs.
• Experience working in a classroom or childcare setting is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student is crucial.

• *Starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience, education, licensures, etc. pertaining to the field provided on the job application depending upon previous and relevant work experience.
• *Staff is assigned based on case load to James Irwin Charter Schools on the same campus to maximize student learning and access to the curriculum.
