Job summary

Lyon County School District in Fernley, NV seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist licensed teachers in delivering individualized instruction to students with disabilities.

Under supervision, you support living, academic, vocational and behavioral goals, help with classroom technology, and participate in data collection and IEP processes.

This 9-month position requires CPR/First Aid training and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; retirement options depend on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and DMV clearance.
• Specialized training as needed to meet student needs as outlined in IEPs.
• Current Crisis Prevention and Restraint Training, First Aid, and CPR Training.
• Blood borne Pathogen and Universal Precaution Training

Responsibilities

• Assist students in daily living tasks and personal care.
• Support instructional activities under licensed teacher supervision.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material.
• Accompany students to other locations within the school as needed.
• Record student progress and report to certified staff.
• Operate classroom technology and augmentative devices.
• Adhere to safety standards and school rules.
