Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with 1 year of experience working with children in an organized setting.
• Ability to reinforce instruction and support students with special needs in routine activities.
• Willingness to assist in monitoring and maintaining classroom safety and behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with emotional, educational, physical and/or behavioral problems.
• Provide individual assistance to students in academic areas and work with small groups.
• Review student history and individual education plans as directed.
• Develop and present learning materials and activities; assist with timelines and master plans.
• Monitor student behavior using positive reinforcement; ensure safety during activities.
• Set up and maintain reading areas, crafts, displays, and bulletin boards.
• Operate instructional equipment and general office machines as needed.
• Maintain routine records related to student work and classroom activities.
