Job summary

Livermoreschools seeks a Paraeducator – Special Education to support instructional programs, assist in supervising and instructing students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms, and help implement individual or group instruction plans.

You will adapt activities, assist with assignments, monitor safety, prepare materials, and reinforce learning goals. A high school diploma is required; this is a 10-month term with medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Qualifications

• EXPERIENCE: Job related experience is preferred.
• EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
• EQUIVALENCY: A combination of education, training and/or job experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials under supervision.
• Administers and scores classroom assignments, tests and homework.
• Communicates with teachers and administrators to monitor student progress.
• Confers with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Assists students with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Maintains instructional materials and records for mandated requirements.
• Monitors students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Prepares instructional materials and classroom equipment for activities.
• Reports observations and incidents to appropriate staff.
• Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
• Supervises students in various settings and observes behavior.
• Supports teachers in implementing curriculum and teaching methods.
• Performs other related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the unit.
• Attends meetings and in-service trainings for job-related information.
