Job summary

Livermoreschools is seeking a Paraeducator – Special Education to support instructional programs in a classroom setting for students with special needs. You will assist in implementing individual and group plans, supervise students, and help with health-related needs under supervision of teachers and licensed staff.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering assignments, monitoring progress, preparing materials, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Experience: Job related experience is preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Equivalency: A combination of education, training and/or job experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Required testing: Pre-employment Proficiency Test may be required.
• Clearances: Meet employment requirements as applicable with state, federal and local laws, and Board Policy.
• Certificates and licenses: Hepatitis B shot

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under supervision to support objectives.
• Administers and scores classroom assignments, tests, homework for teachers.
• Communicates with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and discuss needs.
• Confers with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce concepts.
• Maintains instructional materials and records to ensure availability and compliance.
• Monitors students to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Prepares instructional materials and equipment for activities.
• Reports observations and incidents to teachers/administrators.
• Responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Supervises students in various settings to ensure safety.
• Supports teachers in implementing curriculum and teaching methods.
