Job summary

Sylvania in Champlin, MN is seeking a Paraeducator Special Education to support students with disabilities in mainstream, resource or center-based settings. The role is full-time with 184 days and 6.5 hours per day.

You will assist instruction, help manage behavior, monitor progress, support students with daily living tasks, and maintain data. Starting 8/31/26 with benefits for positions of 6+ hours daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification within 30 days of start date.
• 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or associate degree or higher; ParaEducator/ParaPro exam accepted.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping skills.
• Proficient with technology and computers.
• Must be physically able to lift at least 40 pounds and work in the building.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center-based settings.
• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming, or removing disruptive students.
• Monitor and record student progress across academics, daily living skills, and social development.
• Handle physical needs including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, and wheelchair transport.
• Perform additional duties such as data maintenance and implementing behavioral management programs.
• Support students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.
