Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools seeks a dedicated paraeducator to support students in the special education program at Roton Middle School. You will follow teacher directions, assist with classwork, and help implement IEP goals and 504 plans.

Qualifications include a high school diploma with ParaPro Certificate; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. The role runs Monday–Friday, 27.5 hours weekly, with benefits available through the district.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalency and ParaPro Certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in education or related field or ParaPro Certificate or two years of college required.
  • Two years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting preferred.
  • May require fluency in Spanish.
  • Alternatives to above qualifications may be accepted per the Superintendent/Board.

Responsibilities

  • Support students to participate in their educational program.
  • Assist with implementing IEP goals and behavioral plans.
  • Maintain attendance records and progress notes.
  • Assist teacher with classroom materials, lesson plans, and activities.
  • Support students during recess, field trips, and community activities.
  • Protect student privacy and confidentiality at all times.
