Job summary

Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) seeks a full-time paraeducator for River Street School in Windsor, CT, under a special education teacher. You will implement ABA-based instructional supports, teach daily living skills, and collect IEP objective data within a multidisciplinary team.

The position serves students aged 5–21 with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Activities include classroom prep, safety procedures, community outings, and progress documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
• Prefer pursuing a 4-year degree in a related field or 2 years experience with disabilities.
• Must pass a two-day Safety Care training program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in classroom preparations and strategies.
• Implement behavior support plans and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Use mealtimes and transitions as teaching opportunities.
• Accompany students on community outings with supervision and instruction.
• Maintain on-task behavior throughout the school day.
• Follow safety rules, procedures, and policies.
