Job summary

Three Lakes Educational Cooperative is seeking a paraeducator to assist licensed teachers in helping exceptional students reach instructional goals. You will work under supervision to implement IEP objectives, support inclusion, and maintain a safe learning environment in a Kansas classroom.

Responsibilities cover staff development attendance, confidential record handling, documentation, and communication with teachers and administrators, with emphasis on respectful engagement and student

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum).

Responsibilities

  • Perform with direction of licensed staff in a manner consistent with requirements of law, rules and regulations, local district policies and procedures, and TLEC policies and procedures.
  • Attend TLEC and district inservices as requested.
  • Complete required inservice hours as designated by Kansas State Department of Education.
  • Attend staff meetings as requested.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • Work to implement the vision and mission of TLEC and the school district.
  • May be required to transport students.
  • May be required to maintain current driving requirements to transport students by bus, van, or car.
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, and classroom activities.
  • Interact with students in a respectful manner that reflects knowledge of differences associated with disabilities and diversity.
  • Provide documentation of observations using basic data collection techniques as needed.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with learners, teachers and administration.
  • With guidance from professional staff, use developmentally and age-appropriate strategies, equipment, materials, and assistive technologies to accomplish instructional objectives.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
  • Use strategies and techniques for facilitating the inclusion of students.
  • Use strategies which promote the learner's independence.
  • Implement effective research-based strategies for behavior management per Positive Behavior Support Plan.
  • Use strategies to increase students' self-esteem, self-awareness, self-control, self-reliance, and self-advocacy.
  • Work with individuals or small groups on language or motor development as outlined by therapists and track progress toward IEP goals.
  • Use strategies to develop social skills in various settings.
  • Serve as a positive role model.
  • Report accidents and abusive behavior to the Teacher, Principal, and TLEC Office.
  • Implement and follow district health and safety policies.
  • Participate in IEP meetings upon Teacher request.
  • Provide work-related instruction in school or community settings.
  • Assist with supervision during teacher absence.
  • Other duties as assigned by professionals in reference to responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate scheduling and location flexibility.
  • Follow district and TLEC policy regarding technology and social media.
