Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is seeking a Special Education Instructional Paraeducator at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School. The 37.5 hour work week runs Monday through Friday during a 9-month year, with benefits options and housing support for 2026/2027.

The position includes a one-time $1800 staff bonus for new hires to the district, prorated if starting late, and requires collaboration with licensed staff to implement IEP goals and classroom supports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 2 years of college or 48 semester hours preferred.
• Pass paraprofessional test (CDE/ESSA) prior to being hired.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred; CPI training required within three months.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional programs in individual and group settings under licensed staff.
• Support IEP goals and adapt curriculum with approved modifications.
• Supervise students in classrooms, lunchrooms, and on-field activities.
• Assist with data collection, records, and confidentiality (FERPA).
• Participate in district/ building in-service and professional development.
