Job summary

Durango School District is seeking a Special Education Instructional Paraeducator at Florida Mesa Elementary School. This 37.5-hour-per-week role runs Monday through Friday with a 9-month work year and includes benefits options.

A $1800 one-time bonus is available for new staff in the 26/27 SY, prorated for late start, plus workforce housing for 2026/2027. The paraeducator will support instructional programs, assist with IEP implementation, and help with behavior management and student safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of college or 48 semester hours, or pass paraprofessional test.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred; required within three months of hire.
• CPI training required within three months of hire.
• Colorado driver’s license and school district small vehicle operator permit may be required.
• Criminal Background Check required for hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and assistance under the supervision of a licensed school professional.
• Assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
• Supervise students in various settings including lunchroom, playground, and field trips.
• Assist with data collection, records, and confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
• Assist with daily routines and mobility as required by IEP and student needs.
