Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator for Special Education at Nathan Hale Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direct supervision of a special education teacher, you will support students to participate in their educational program and help implement IEP goals.

Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, documenting progress, reinforcing safety policies, and helping students access curriculum using devices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency and ParaPro Certificate.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Associate's Degree in education or related field or ParaPro Certificate or two years of college required.
• Two years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish may be required.
• Qualifying alternatives may be considered by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing policies and directives for students.
• Follow school policy to ensure student safety.
• Assist students with classwork in small groups or individually.
• Maintain attendance records and document student progress.
• Prepare and distribute lesson plan materials.
• Encourage positive student interactions and behaviors.
• Provide mobility and escort support to students as needed.
• Support students using computers, iPads, or other devices.
