Job summary

Riverview Elementary School in Vancouver, Washington, seeks a Special Education Paraeducator to support students in the Special Services department. Reports to the Special Education Instructor/Building Principal. Schedule includes 6.33 hours daily (7:40 a.m.

– 2:30 p.m., 30 min unpaid lunch), 4.33 hours on early-release days, and 6.17 hours on full Wednesdays across 190 days per year. Starting date is immediate.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; AND
• Must meet one or more of the following:
• Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the ETS ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);
• Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
• Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;
• Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (registered with WA State Apprenticeship Council).

SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATOR

LOCATION:Riverview Elementary School

REPORTS TO:Special Education Instructor/Building Principal

DEPARTMENT: Special Services

Hours / Work Times

6.33 Hours Per Day (7:40 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

4.33 Hours on Early-Release Days (7:40 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. includes 30 minutes unpaid time)

6.17 Hours on Designated Full Wednesdays (7:40 a.m. – 2:20 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 10/01/26.

Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;AND
• Must meet one or more of the following:
  • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);or
  • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;or
  • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

*If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.

Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.
