Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools at Wy'East Middle School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator. The position supports elementary and secondary students under the direction of the Special Education Instructor and Building Principal.

The role involves supervising instructional activities and working with students individually or in small groups. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent and one of several credential options; state training will be provided

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet one of the following: ParaPro score 455+ or higher, associate degree or higher, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher, or completion of a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program.
  • Upon hire, complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervision of instructional activities and student engagement.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups under supervision of the Special Education teacher and building principal.
  • Carry out duties as described in the district’s standards for paraeducators and participate in required trainings.

SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATOR


LOCATION: Wy'East Middle School


REPORTS TO:Special Education Instructor/Building Principal


DEPARTMENT:


Hours / Work Times


.25 Hours Per Day (9:20 a.m. - 9:35 a.m.)


190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)


This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 09/15/2026.


Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:



  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;AND

  • Must meet one or more of the following:

    • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);or

    • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;or

    • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;or

    • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Classification Group: Paraeducator Class II


Salary Placement New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.
