Job summary

Portsmouth School District is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to support special education students under the guidance of certified staff. You will implement instructional plans, monitor behavior, and assist with life skills in a collaborative classroom setting.

Ideal candidates have two years of college or an associate degree, and are willing to participate in trainings and work with teachers, case managers, and families to promote student success.

Qualifications

• Experience with students with disabilities and behavioral challenges.
• Dependable, organized with good communication and emotional maturity.
• Able to maintain FERPA confidentiality and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with special education team and teachers to support students.
• Attend all required training sessions for paraeducators.
• Carry out instructional plans and provide individual or group assistance.
• Monitor and redirect behavior; implement behavior plans.
• Assist in planning instructional activities and document progress.
• Supervise students as directed by teachers or administrators.
• Participate in skill trainings and in-services.
