Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to support students under the supervision of a teacher. You will work with individuals or small groups, providing behavioral and emotional support to students in the learning support classroom and in general education settings.

You will help students achieve defined objectives, assist with classroom management, and participate in crisis-response activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Highly Qualified status (A.A. Degree, 48 credit hours, or Paraprofessional Assessment Test).
• Two years' experience with children with emotional disturbance or related issues.
• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds and participate in physical restraint when needed.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher to achieve objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
• Provide behavior and emotional support in the learning support classroom and general education classes.
• Help students achieve individual objectives and reinforce skills.
