Job summary

King and Queen County Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers and support students with special needs at Lawson Marriott Elementary School. The role involves working with students in small groups or one-on-one sessions under teacher direction.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with technology. Prior education setting experience and self-motivation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Holds a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong technology skills, including word processing, email, and internet use.
• Preferred: some post-secondary education, prior experience in an educational setting, and a self-starter with a high degree of personal motivation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers.
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.
• Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
• Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms and around the school, including field trips.
• Assist teacher with organizing classroom materials and student work.
• Demonstrate professional, moral, and ethical behavior and integrity.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administrator.
