Job summary

Putnam City is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional II to assist teachers in providing individualized support for students with disabilities. You will help implement IEPs, modify activities, and support social-emotional development in a inclusive classroom.

The role involves supervising students, assisting with daily tasks, and collaborating with staff to promote academic growth and dignity. 180-day/9-month terms with board-determined salary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Special Education Paraprofessional Tier II certificate as per OSDE requirements.
• Ability to support students with disabilities and implement IEP accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities.
• Implement accommodations and modifications per IEPs.
• Assist with daily tasks, transitions, personal care, and mobility support as needed.
• Assist with toileting needs while maintaining student dignity and hygiene.
• Communicate progress and needs with teachers and special education staff.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up learning environments.
• Support behavior management and use de-escalation strategies as needed.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times (lunch, recess, field trips, arrival/departure).
• Support during therapy sessions as directed by professionals.
• Maintain records of student progress, behavior, and attendance.
• Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.
