Job summary

Putnam City is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional II to support students with disabilities, helping them access instruction and participate in class with individualized assistance and IEP implementation.

Responsibilities include one-on-one or small group support, behavior and safety supervision, material preparation, progress documentation, and collaboration with teachers and staff. A High School Diploma or GED and a Tier II SPED paraprofessional certificate per OSDE are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; must obtain Tier II SPED paraprofessional certificate per OSDE.
• Assist with implementing IEPs and providing support for students with disabilities.
• Ability to work with diverse students and collaborate with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with disabilities, helping them understand and complete assignments.
• Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.
• Assist students with daily tasks, such as transitions and personal care, when necessary.
• Assist with toileting needs and maintain student hygiene and dignity.
• Communicate regularly with teachers and staff to discuss student progress.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up classroom activities.
• Monitor progress and reinforce lessons taught in class.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and support social-emotional development.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times to ensure safety.
• Keep records of student progress and attendance for reporting.
• Attend training sessions to stay current with best practices in special education.
