Job summary

Haslett Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher and in accordance with the student’s IEP. The role may involve one-on-one or small-group work within the classroom setting to deliver a sound academic program and maintain a safe, supportive environment for children with special needs.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate and communicate with children, teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• May be required to facilitate medical and/or personal care needs of students.
• People skills sufficient for prolonged and effective contact with students with disabilities.
• Experience with Special Education Students.

Responsibilities

• Implement IEP program and follow specific behavior intervention program requirements for students with disabilities.
• Be willing to be trained in First Aid/CPR and implement nonviolent verbal and physical interventions.
• Help students with getting on and off the school bus.
• Potential playground/lunchroom supervision.
