Job summary

Cedar Springs Hospital, Inc. seeks a paraeducator to assist teachers with instructional delivery and behavior management in a school setting.

You will monitor students across classrooms and common areas, support IEPs and behavior plans, and help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment with 1:1 support when necessary. You will also help with attendance, grading, and organizing supplies while upholding professional boundaries and reporting concerns promptly to staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• CPR certification obtainable upon hire; CPI certification desirable or obtainable upon hire.
• Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, risk assessment, and behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers and school staff with instructional delivery, behavior management, and supervision.
• Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds; ensure safety during transitions and field trips.
• Teach small groups or individuals under a teacher’s direction; reinforce math, reading, and language lessons.
• Support IEPs or behavior plans; guide social-emotional growth and manage developmental or physical needs.
• Take attendance, grade assignments, copy papers, and organize supplies.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; provide verbal de-escalation and 1:1 support when needed.
• Complete accurate documentation for every student interaction and attend meetings.
• Report safety concerns to appropriate staff and adhere to safety policies.
