Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District seeks a Special Education Para at Cleveland Elementary for 3 hours per day. Under supervision of licensed staff you will support students individually or in groups, assist with supervision in classrooms, hallways and cafeteria, and help implement behavior strategies.

The position requires a minimum of two years of postsecondary education or a paraeducator certificate, or a qualifying score on the NCRC assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision of students in classroom, cafeteria and halls.
• Implement behavior management strategies.
• Assist in transporting students to/from bus or car when needed.
• Prepare materials used in the educational process.
• Assist students during mealtimes and in personal hygiene areas.
• Follow health assistance protocols under nurses' guidance.
• Other duties as assigned; assignments may vary by building and district needs.
