New Bedford High School within the New Bedford Public Schools district is seeking a Para-Educator to support students with special education needs in an inclusive setting.

The role focuses on assisting teachers, implementing IEP goals, and fostering a supportive classroom environment. Requires 48 college credits or Para Pro, with Associate degree preferred; CPI training and experience with special education are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college credits; or passed the Para Pro test.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• CPI training desirable; experience with special education services preferred.

Responsabilités

• Support students with physical, academic and social-emotional needs in instructional settings.
• Assist teachers in daily instruction, manage classroom environment, and support IEP goals.
• Provide sensory and behavior supports, including use of sensory plans and managing transitions.
• Assist in communication between students and staff, including use of assistive technology.
• Participate in development of social, emotional, and behavioral skills with individuals or groups.
• May review student IEPs and provide personal care assistance if needed.
