GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Special education one on one assistant position that provides quality services for students with various disabilities who require support in a highly specialized setting. Assist individual student with academic, functional, and personal needs. Responsible for helping to maintain positive student behaviors in the classroom.
EDUCATION: Completion of an Associate’s Degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Experience working with students with autism and other disabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Assistant should be familiar with Evidence Based Practices used with students with Autism (such as utilizing visual supports, AAC strategies, social skills instruction and ABA techniques). Should also be familiar with sensory strategies to support a student with self-regulation and familiar with deescalation techniques to support a student in times of crisis.
