Job summary

Project Genesis, Inc. in Connecticut is seeking a Special Education Mentor / Transition Teacher to work one-on-one with students with disabilities as they transition from high school into adulthood—teaching practical life skills and supporting educational goals.

This full-time, school-day role offers Monday–Friday hours with pay between $21 and $24 per hour, based on education level. A valid driver’s license, local travel, and a compassionate, student-centered approach are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework or a degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, or related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience in education, special education, behavioral health, or human services.
• Knowledge of IDEA and transition services preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (min. 3 years).
• Ability to obtain Connecticut Public Passenger Endorsement (A) after hire; company reimburses.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
• Ability to travel locally within service area.
• Bilingual English/Spanish candidates encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

• Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and transition services is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (minimum three years).
• Reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance.
• Ability to obtain a Connecticut Public Passenger Endorsement (A) after hire (company reimbursement provided).
• Ability to pass required pre‑employment and random 10‑panel drug screening.
• Ability to travel locally throughout the service area.
• Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $21-$24 per hour, based on level of completed education.
