Job summary

Freedom Preparatory Academy seeks a Special Education teacher for our growing network of charter schools. You will deliver instruction and help students develop mastery of concepts assessed throughout the year, collaborating with teachers to ensure cross-curricular alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Two to four years of urban teaching and educational leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities in a heterogeneously grouped classroom setting.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with student arrival/departure and transitions to create a positive community.
• Reinforce school-wide rules and plan lessons and assignments.
• Use data analysis of student performance to inform best practices.
• Schedule students for small group services as needed.
• Maintain IEPs and 504s logs and follow timelines; ensure compliance with requirements.
• Document syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and other curricular materials.
• Review IEPs with general teachers and offer recommendations for accommodations.
