Job summary

Freedom Preparatory Academy seeks a middle school ELA teacher to help students develop mastery through ongoing assessments and varied instructional approaches. You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure cross-curricular alignment and thematic cohesion across the network.

Ideal candidates hold a Tennessee teaching license with endorsements or licensure eligibility, and bring 2–4 years of urban teaching experience along with strong technology skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree strongly preferred.
• Valid Tennessee teaching license and endorsements in the hired content area or eligibility for licensure.
• Enrollment in a certification program with eligibility for licensure or reciprocity.
• Two to four years of urban teaching and educational leadership experience is preferred.
• Ability to work with learners of diverse abilities; strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Introduce and help students develop mastery of ELA concepts through year-long assessments.
• Collaborate with teachers to align curriculum across subjects and themes.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with families and staff.
• Work extended hours to support student growth and professional development.
• Support the Head of School and other leaders in strategies for student success.
