Job summary

IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT in Irving, TX seeks a Special Education Aide Learning in a Functional Environment (LIFE). The role supports the special education teacher to meet students' physical and instructional needs in a structured setting.

Under supervision of the principal and a certified teacher, the aide assists with personal care, behavior management, and instructional tasks, ensuring safety and adherence to district policies throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community.
• Assist teacher in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks as may be required including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, personal hygiene.
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention.
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s needs.
• Work with and/or prepare materials for individual students or small groups under teacher direction.
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and policies.
• Participate in staff development trainings, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
