Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a functional LIFE environment. You will assist a certified teacher with instructional and personal care tasks, including self-help and behavior support, under principal supervision.

Requirements include an Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent and a high school diploma or GED. Experience with students with disabilities and strong communication skills are desired.

Qualifications

Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to work with children with disabilities and follow both verbal and written directions.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and share with appropriate personnel.
Assist in supervising students inside and outside the classroom as needed (lunchroom, bus duty, playground).
Assist teacher with individual tasks including transfers to/from wheelchairs and daily living activities.
Assist with behavior management and crisis intervention as directed by the teacher.
Support materials preparation and small-group instruction under teacher direction.
Inform the teacher of any student needs or problems and uphold school policies.
