Job summary

Andover Public Schools is seeking a compassionate instructional assistant to support students with identified educational disabilities. Under the supervision of teachers and specialists, you will implement lessons, accommodations, and behavioral goals aligned with IEPs and medical plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of college or equivalent two years experience working with children.
• Ability to understand student curriculum and to implement multiple teacher-directed activities.
• Knowledge of use of computers, including the application of classroom and adaptive technologies.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, implement individual or small group lessons using teacher-designed materials.
• Provide support for behavioral, self-help, and ADL goals as outlined in IEPs.
• Collect ongoing data as directed by teachers and specialists.
• Reinforce classroom rules and implement IEP-related accommodations.
• Assist students in securing materials for lessons and focusing on tasks.
• Help students access and record their work.
• Provide direct support to teachers in implementing IEP goals and modifications.
• Supervise students during arrival, recess, lunch, and dismissal as assigned.
• Provide additional practice and re-teaching of discrete skills as directed by staff.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and setting up activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
