Job summary

The North Andover Public Schools Sargent School seeks a Teaching Assistant (Learning Skills) to support students under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher and classroom staff. This full-time position works within IEP goals and requires strong communication and confidentiality.

Salary is $22.33 per hour. The role emphasizes collaboration with school personnel, data collection, and assisting students with daily living activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or higher in related field preferred.
• Experience in behavior management with 6+ months with children with delays preferred.
• Background in working with children with disabilities preferred.
• Familiarity with reading and understanding IEPs preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Works with assigned student(s) to implement goals and IEPs under supervision.
• Use developmentally appropriate strategies and materials to facilitate learning.
• Provide one-to-one or small group instruction as needed.
• Collect data for reporting as determined by staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
• Attend in-service professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned by building principal or district staff.
