Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education.
• Holds an Ohio Special Education Teacher’s Certificate in at least one area of students with disabilities to be supervised.
• Holds an educational administrative specialist, principal, or supervisor certificate.
• Minimum of three years of teaching and/or supervisory or administrative experience.
• Required criminal background check.
• Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the ESC’s curriculum and instructional programs.
• Assists with programs in areas including special education, preschool, and Section 504.
• Collaborates in the delivery and continuous improvement of special education programs.
• Coordinates the delivery of student services to support district programs.
• Consults with the elementary principal on program implementation.
• Assists with mandated reports for submission to the Ohio Department of Education.
• Interprets district policies relating to students with disabilities.
• Provides leadership for staff on Federal law and Ohio rules for educating students with disabilities.
• Guides interventions under Response to Intervention and MTSS.
• Directs staff regarding requirements under Section 504.
• Participates in placement of students with disabilities in alternative settings.
• Assists in developing district-wide policies for special education and student services.
• Maintains complete records of all children enrolled in special education.
• Recommends supplies and curriculum used by special education, preschool, and ELL staff.
• Advises personnel on regulations for programs related to special education, Section 504, preschool and student services.
• Ensures accurate reporting of EMIS data related to special education.
• Maintains professional rapport with coworkers and students.
• Communicates effectively with supervisor.
• Ensures student safety and promotes positive public relations.
• Serves as a role model for students.
