Job summary

AHRC Nassau recruits a Special Educator I/II to deliver services in a New York program. You will implement IEP-based instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with families and staff to support student development.

Key duties include lesson planning, CPSE/CSE participation, maintaining IEP data, and ensuring classroom health and safety standards. NYS certification is required; experience with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• New York State Certification in Special Education required.
• Minimum one year related experience to plan individual education plans to meet the special needs of each child preferred.
• Prior Special Education Teaching Experience Preferred.
• Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of a student.

Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum based on children’s individualized needs; ensure health and safety of classroom environment.
• Plan daily lessons for large and small group activities based on IEP goals.
• Screen incoming children and prepare educational observation forms.
• Attend case conferences CPSE/CSE to coordinate interventions.
• Communicate with parents in writing, by phone, and in person regarding child’s progress.
• Maintain data for each goal on the IEP.
• Provide or adapt materials to facilitate language and speech production in the classroom.
