Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers in Walpole, MA is seeking a Job Coach to support special education students in work, educational, and residential settings. The role focuses on helping students develop work skills through on-site and community-based supports, in collaboration with the educational team and community partners.

You will model appropriate work maturity, monitor progress, coordinate with the Vocational Coordinator and teachers, provide coaching in employment training, and ensure safety

Qualifications

• Experience working with students receiving special education services with a wide range of disabilities including cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral deficits.
• Ability to work confidently and effectively.
• Serve as a chief source of information and assisting any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to calmly and effectively respond to urgent or emergency situations.
• Retail experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and community-based supports to students in a variety of community settings.
• Direct supervision and monitoring of students in community and employment training settings to ensure well-being and safety.
• Model appropriate work maturity skills and hold students to expectations.
• Monitor student work performance and provide feedback and prompts as needed.
• Ensure safety is maintained in the work environment.
• Maintain professional relationships with students and business owners; coordinate with employers and co-workers.
