Job summary

Liberty POST is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (SEIT) to provide one-to-one instruction to children ages 3-5 in preschool settings across Long Island.

The role involves collaborating with families, CPSE teams, and related service providers to develop goals, monitor progress, and facilitate home involvement, while maintaining thorough documentation and complying with NYSED/ NYC DOE requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NYS certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities to teach preschoolers.
  • Fully vaccinated against communicable diseases as required by program.
  • Willingness to travel to preschool programs across Long Island, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one SEIT services to children ages 3-5 with developmental delays.
  • Travel to early childhood centers to deliver instruction and support.
  • Collaborate with families and CPSE/NYSED teams to set goals and monitor progress.
  • Engage families to promote active involvement at home.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and write progress reports per NYSED/ NYC DOE standards.
  • Complete required background checks and meet NYS/ NYC regulations.
  • Coordinate service delivery with CPSE and related providers to support student progress.
  • Gather progress data from related providers to inform instructional decisions.
  • Participate in CPSE meetings in person or by phone and share updates with parents and CPSE.

Liberty POST is currently seeking a motivated and energetic Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for per diem employment to work with children who are 3-5 years old through Preschool Special Education programs . Immediate positions are available throughout Long Island.

Liberty POST has offered its clients a range of high-quality and individualized services since 1994. Backed by Liberty Resources Inc. and part of a large social services circle, originally POST was a speech-language practice in Syracuse NY and has grown to provide a range of services throughout New York State and Indiana. We employ over 500 professionals in a variety of settings and offer a collaborative team approach to provide evaluation, direct therapy, and family education through child-directed play. We are focused on the importance of a child’s natural learning environment, a family’s unique strengths and needs and the diverse population we serve.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with children, ages 3-5 years, with developmental delays
  • Travel to children's preschool programs to provide instruction and support
  • Collaborate with family members and multi-disciplinary teams to develop goals and outcomes
  • Work with family members to facilitate active involvement at home
  • Maintain proper documentation and write progress reports as required by NYSED and NYC DOE
  • Successful completion of all background checks, as per program, NYC and NYS requirements
  • The SEIT is responsible for the coordination of services (as per NYSED regulations):
  • Working with the CPSE to resolve any scheduling or service delivery issues
  • Sharing information with related service providers to support the integration of SEIT and related services
  • Gathering progress reports and anecdotal information relating to the students’ progress from all related service providers to ensure that the SEIT has a general knowledge of the student’s progress and any significant problems, in each related service area
  • Participating in person or by telephone in all CPSE meetings
  • Providing progress information to parentsand the CPSE
  • Ensuring effective communication practices, such as telephone conferences, as needed

Requirements:

  • Valid NYS Teacher Certification: Student with Disabilities, Birth – Grade 2, OR
  • Certified Special Education Teacher (Permanent)
  • Candidates must be fully vaccinated

Hours:

Generally between 8 & 4 PM (Monday-Friday)

Pay Rate:

Home/Community Based: Starting at $35 per 30-minute session
