Mechanicsburg Area School District seeks Special Education Instructional Assistants for Learning Support (LS) and Emotional Support (ES) classrooms at the Senior High School for the 2026/2027 year. SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS- LS and ES

Mechanicsburg Area School District is seeking Special Education Instructional Assistants in the Learning Support (LS) and Emotional Support (ES) classrooms at the Senior High School for the 2026/2027 school year. These openings are full-time, during the school year positions that offer comprehensive and affordable medical, dental, vision and life insurance.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides instructional assistance to teachers and/or students in the assigned setting. Requires working with children and performing various clerical duties. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assists with adapting instructional material for specific students.

• Learning Support: The primary focus of this position is to support students with identified needs in regular education classes. Duties may include, but are not limited to, supporting students in maintaining organization of assignments and material, supporting study skills, providing scaffolds to help students across learning, providing prompting for attention, and supporting collaborative group work.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduate with general typing ability and computer skills. Experience working with children in an instructional setting preferred. Strong interpersonal skills required. Chapter 14 requires that all special education instructional assistants and personal care assistants must meet one of the following qualifications: (1) have completed at least two years of postsecondary study, (2) possess an associates degree or higher, OR (3) complete an assessment provided.
