Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required plus 48 college credits or pass state test.
• Must be capable of working with students who may have physical, intellectual, emotional and/or behavioral exceptionalities.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard, e-mail, and websites.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and follow policies and objectives of the program.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality of records and information according to District Policy.
• Is punctual and prepared for immediate duties upon arrival at school.
• Attends and completes professional development meetings.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude toward the school, students, staff and community.
• Conducts classroom or community-based instruction under supervision of the teacher.
• Assists with classroom assessments and instructional planning.
• Supports adaptive physical education and other motor activities as needed.
• Assists with self-care activities and tutoring activities.
• Assists in reviewing home and seat work activities.
• Assists with oral and written communication and hands-on activities.
• Observes and records student behavior and reinforces positive behaviors.
