Job summary

Asheville City Schools is seeking an EC Instructional Assistant at Lucy S. Herring Elementary School to support students with IEPs under a Special Education Teacher’s supervision.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic classroom technologies and ability to use assistive devices.
• Ability to follow teacher plans and directions for individual students.
• Able to communicate clearly with students, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist one or more students with academic tasks as directed by the teacher.
• Record and collect student data as part of progress monitoring.
• Provide personal care and assistance per IEP/Health Plans.
• Prepare and maintain classroom materials and instructional supports.
• Utilize assistive technology to support learning and independence.
