Job summary

Bassett Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Health Assistant – Special Education on an on-call basis to provide health-related and instructional support to students with disabilities. Duties include health care assistance, basic first aid, and aiding teachers and therapists in class and off-campus settings.

The position requires a high school diploma, two years of experience with special needs students, and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Two years of experience with children with special needs.
• Two years of higher education or an associate degree may substitute for required experience.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificates within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with health care needs and daily living activities.
• Monitor health and safety; administer basic first aid per policies.
• Assist in presenting learning materials and reinforce lessons in classroom and off-campus settings.
• Support teachers and therapists in individual and small-group activities.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate with parents as requested.
