Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional (Paraeducator) to assist certificated teachers and support students with a range of disabilities on campus. The role involves instructional support and personal care in a dynamic classroom setting.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate or equivalent, 72 college credits or passing the Para Pro Test, and may involve AA or BA degrees with salary based on district scales.

Qualifications

• Assists certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs.
• Maintains data and progress for IEP goals and objectives.
• Depends on the district training and program requirements.
• Requires completion of state mandated Paraeducator Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in groups.
• Assist with self-care activities and classroom routines.
• Supervise students during recess and meals; support transportation as needed.
• Record student progress and communicate with teachers and families.
• Assist in adapting materials and activities and administer tests as assigned.
• Maintain attendance and follow district policies.
